Infusing the season’s most sought-after scents from neighbouring candle chandler and fragrance expert Rachel Vosper, the ‘Collection of Scents’ Afternoon Tea at The Park Tower Knightsbridge unites smell and taste buds, with each pastry served alongside its paired miniature scent bottle.
Celebrating and uniting two Knightsbridge artisans, the tea offers an experience reflective of the locale; the hotel has been serving its celebrated Distinctly Knightsbridge Afternoon Tea for more than five years, whilst Vosper, based a stone’s throw from the hotel, is renowned for her fragrant candle collections, with 20 years of industry experience.
Head chef Gaurav Puri and Vosper herself designed the tea’s flavour profile based upon her latest scented candle range.
Infusing aromas into each of the five desserts on the menu, the tea includes the ‘Crown of Glory’ rose panna cotta tart, taking inspiration from Vosper’s sweetly scented Rose candle, whilst the ‘Orange Blossom Honey Hive’ pairs sweet white chocolate mousse with a fresh orange tuile, inspired by the fragrant citrus candle.
The seasonal éclair mixes roasted cinnamon and chestnut confit, harking back to Vosper’s festive scent, whilst her fresh mint candle is reflected in the decadent ‘Mint Chocolate Slice’.
With each pastry presented alongside a small bottle of the paired candle’s fragrance, guests are able to connect their senses as they indulge in the tea.
Puri said: “We love working with our local artisans to provide guests with something truly reflective of this beautiful part of London. The unique tea allows guests to appreciate the sensory connection between smell and taste for a heightened Afternoon Tea experience.”
Served alongside an array of sandwiches and warm fresh scones, guests can enjoy the tea in the stunning Knightsbridge Lounge, the tea parlour surrounded by a canopy of magnolia blossom motifs on draped silk, and featuring a spectacular 18-foot teardrop glass chandelier.
The ‘Collection of Scents’ Afternoon Tea will be available on a daily basis from 3pm – 6pm and costs £39 per person or £49 per person with a glass of champagne.
